Metadata Stores
Metadata is reference data common to an organisation or department. It is set
up in a metadata store, which maps reference data to key words and codes.
There are three types of metadata:
- Key words with numeric codes
- Key words with string codes
- Key words with no code
A dictionary is a set of key words which can be used in the rule or action builder.
When building rules and actions, metadata is accessed via named constants in a dictionary (see Dictionaries and Named Constants).
Codes in the underlying metadata can be updated without changing the named constants in
existing rules and actions.
By setting up metadata in 1Integrate, you can improve the efficiency of rule and action
building, and make the resulting rules and actions more readable. This also
lessens the possibility of user mistakes, such as using the wrong code in a rule or
action.
You can create a metadata store from an Oracle database or from a properties text file.
